Ningyocho and GROOVE X

New robots from Ningyocho where old-time artisans were putting their souls into their puppets. The district’s name Ningyocho means town of ningyo (puppets or dolls.)

GROOVE X’s office is located in the district where many artisans were living and making puppets for puppet shows. Puppet shows were a form of entertainment very popular among people of Edo period. We are putting our souls into our robots in the same manner as the old-time puppet artisans were putting their souls into their puppets. Although both puppets and robots are non-living objects, we want them to have souls. Though we live in different time, we share the same spirit with the artisans.

We are disseminating the concept of our new robots ”LOVOT” from this district where we can feel culture and history.

OUR CUSTOMS

Onigiri rice balls

Onigiri rice balls

People with diversified backgrounds are gathering at GROOVE X. Onigiri rice balls are offered to all the members at 19:00 every evening, facilitating communication among them across the teams. Literally, we are sharing food out of the same pan. After long holidays, local delicacies from all over Japan might be there to go with the rice balls.

Bazaar

Bazaar

Due to Scrum development schedule, Wednesday is the last day of the week at GROOVE X. Every Wednesday afternoon, we have opportunity to demonstrate the present status of development to members of other teams. It looks like a bazaar, when the latest status of development is demonstrated here and there in the office

Morning meeting

Morning meeting

Although the number of staff members has increased, GROOVE X believes it is important for everyone to work on the same ground and thus holds morning meetings every day with everyone taking part. One of our staff talks on his/her favorite theme, and then appoint another one to talk on the scene. This way, we sometimes catch a glimpse of unexpected side of our colleagues who are working towards the same goal.
